What you'll learn.

  • What a deepfake is, and the four forms it takes at work: voice clones, video deepfakes, synthetic images and live deepfakes
  • The common routes deepfakes take into a business, from urgent calls from "the boss" to fake job candidates
  • Why trying to spot a fake by eye or ear isn't a reliable defence, and what to judge instead
  • How to pause, verify a request through a separate channel, and report it using your organisation's route and Report Fraud
  • The verification habits that protect a business, such as callback rules, dual approval and safe words

Who it's for.

Everyone at work, whatever their role. The final module adds extra checks for anyone who approves payments, manages a team or looks after finance, IT or HR. The guidance, examples and reporting routes are written for UK organisations.

Is this course free?

Yes. Public courses in the Dr Logic Academy are free. You just need an Academy account to save your progress.

How long does it take?

About 65 minutes, across 5 short modules. Go at your own pace and pick up where you left off.

How does it work?

Each module ends with a short quiz. Pass them all to complete the track.

Do I earn a badge?

Yes. You earn a badge when you complete the track, and it shows on your Academy profile.

Do I need any technical knowledge?

No. Everything is explained in plain language with real examples. You don't need to know how deepfakes are made or use any special tools.

Will I learn how to spot a deepfake?

Yes. The course covers the visual, audio and behavioural signs to look for. It also explains why those signs are becoming less reliable, and why checking the request is the habit that works however good the fake is.

Do we need detection software to stay protected?

The course explains why detection tools can't catch every fake, and focuses on simple verification habits that work without any software. Speak to the Dr Logic team about our cyber security services.

I approve payments or manage a team. Is there anything extra for me?

Yes. The final module covers dual approval, helpdesk and hiring checks, multi-factor authentication and tabletop exercises, with a leadership checklist to review what your organisation already has in place.

Does this apply across the UK?

The habits apply anywhere. The reporting routes are UK-specific: Report Fraud covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and the course explains that people in Scotland report to Police Scotland on 101.
